With daily payments reaching about 1.1 million, the XRP Ledger is witnessing yet another significant increase in network activity. The fact that the figure is significantly higher than the most recent baseline, and that it comes at a time when XRP is trying to maintain a significant September recovery.
XRP payments are surging
The 30-day average is approximately 887,600, while XRPSCAN data indicates approximately 1.1 million payments. On September 27, 1,143,754 payments were processed by the network. Similar activity can be seen in the broader ledger statistics, which display roughly 2.7 million transactions, 17,800 active accounts, and a payment volume of nearly $400 million. What is causing the increase in payments?

The increase does not seem to be the result of a single isolated incident. Rather, the payment count is consistent with a larger increase in XRP Ledger usage in September. While transaction activity, active accounts, and payment volume have continued to be high, the network has experienced multiple payment spikes exceeding one million.
Crucially, "payments" shouldn't be taken to mean that a million people have sent XRP. XRP and issued assets, such as stablecoins and other tokens, can be moved using XRPL's Payment transaction type. Large volumes of individual payments can thus be produced by automated services, exchange infrastructure, and applications.
Another potential factor is the expansion of the ledger's liquidity infrastructure. According to the provided XRPSCAN data, there are roughly 31,200 AMM pools, and the number is still rising. Although the payment chart by itself is unable to pinpoint the precise source of the current spike, increased on-ledger liquidity and asset activity can generate more transactions across the ecosystem.
XRP's short-term dynamic
While network expansion offers a positive backdrop for XRP's price, the short-term technical picture is still unclear. After overcoming its September declining resistance, XRP recently surged from about $1.28 to above $1.60. Since then, the price has corrected to about $1.49, and a number of consecutive red candles indicate that the short-term momentum is waning.
The immediate battlefield is now the $1.45–$1.50 area. Holding it would keep the breakout intact and keep $1.55–$1.60 within reach. The recent $1.65 high would come back into focus if there were a recovery above $1.60.
In the event that $1.45 fails, XRP may fall to $1.40, which would be followed by the much stronger moving-average support at $1.35–$1.37. The ledger data is still solid, but sustaining high activity will be more important than a single 1.1 million payment reading.
